We don’t have firm plans for the next Miscreant Creche as we’re evaluating the pricing and business model.

We were hoping to have an event which was as accessible as possible to a broad range of people, but found too many people were being priced out even at purely break-even, introductory pricing.

We are planning to bring the Creche back when we have worked out a sustainable business model. Check back here for updates.

Are you a hacker who enjoys the occasional Rick Roll but doesn’t like the idea of going to prison?

Did you buy a Flipper because… why not?

Did you buy a Proxmark and only ever get to run autopwn once on your work access card?

Do you see all the RF signals, PACS and other such inviting toys but don’t want to step over the line from mischief and learning into outright criminal?

The Miscreant Creche is an idea that came from a conference where we took a load of training gear and let people play around with it.

We have a range of kit you can be let loose on:

  • Low frequency access control
  • High frequency access control
  • ESP Key
  • Static code RF remotes
  • Weird RF remotes
  • Rolling codes sim with implanted vulnerabilities
  • Door contact alarms
  • PIR sensors
  • Combination locks / key safes
  • Locks and picks*

There are detailed instructions for each exercise and technical support available.

You’re invited to bring your own Flipper, locks and picks or other hardware and try the different exercises. There will be a limited supply of Flippers, picks, etc and step by step guides for each section.

We ran the first one in December 2024, because we thought competing with Christmas and football was the way to go… We were at DC151 in Leeds in January.

The Miscreant Creche is ideal for training estates and security hardware installers in the techniques used by criminals to overcome security controls, equipping them with the information needed to prevent those some methods being used. It also makes a fantastic team building exercise for information security teams and is available to be hired anywhere on the UK mainland.

You can follow Phil on LinkedIn for updates.

Activities list is available here.

*This isn’t intended to be a lock picking village, but there will be a selection of clear locks and basic picks for people to play with.

We appreciate some people may have concerns or questions about the Miscreant Creche. If you would like to request a document summarising our technical risk assessment and how we have curated the activities on offer, please email enquiries@styxsecurity.org.
