Do you use any secure cabinets with useful electronic digi locks? Of the sort used to store and charge a few grand worth of iPads, controllers, etc?
Does said cabinet have a model name on the front?
Will Googling “filetype:pdf [model name] manual” find me documentation on your secure storage in under a minute? (This is called a Google Dork and is a way of searching for specific file types with specific names – it saves a lot of searching through manufacturer’s websites. As AI driven search is becoming more and more capable, knowledge of Dorks is becoming less important for rapid, specific searching).
Does the manual for your secure storage have an override code that allows it to be opened without leaving any real evidence?
Did you change it? Did you even know about it?
Of course, if you’re lucky and it’s just me who finds out, you’re likely to find googly eyes on everything and nothing missing. If you’re unlucky, you could have a difficult situation where things are missing and only those who know the code are investigated.
If you’re very unlucky, the iPads you’re protecting are used to interface with and control critical equipment. Oh yes, I’ve seen that done.
Just FYI, these override codes also exist in hotel room safes and are commonly left as default…
