But someone can just….
I hear this a lot about adding in cheap and cheerful extra layers of security. This is the cheapest and cheerfulest. It’s a door contact sensor with a remote arm and disarm function.
To bypass it, I have to detect the magnet through the door and then whip out a large magnet (or the mag switch if I don’t want to accidentally attach myself to everything metal along my path), get it ready to be positioned, defeat the lock, position magnet, open the door and tape another magnet over the sensor. Multiple arms required and I hope there isn’t a PIR in the room to deal with also.
To use the Flipper on this very basic RF system, I have to first ascertain the frequency. That requires a transmission. Then I have to acquire the signal for a disarm (and ideally an arm if I want to leave it as I found it). I can then disarm it remotely, leaving my hands free to deal with the PIR or extra locks. It may take several attempts to realise you have to record the raw signal for this alarm.
Security in layers. Even this tenner worth of contact alarm adds significant extra complexity to a covert entry.
I’d rather see 3 or 4 lower quality layers than one awesome layer.
